El droide de combate serie OOM fue el predecesor del droide de combate B1. Aunque físicamente idéntico a este último, la serie OOM poseía una programación más avanzada e independiente. Ya eran comunes en la galaxia antes de la Invasión de Naboo, actuando como tripulación y seguridad de la Fuerza de Defensa de Comercio. Más tarde sirvió en las Guerras Clon junto a sus más comunes, pero más simples descendientes, los B1.
Los OOM podía ser programados para una serie de funciones, usando para cada una un color diferente pintado sobre el cuerpo del droide:
- Droide de combate comandante OOM—amarillo
- Droide de combate piloto OOM—azul
- Droide de combate de seguridad OOM—rojo
- Droide de combate lanzacohetes OOM—negro (Aparece sólo en el último nivel del videojuego Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace)
