Un cortador de fusión era una herramienta de mano muy común en reparaciones que servía como un soplete. Entre las compañías constructoras estaban SoroSuub y Jeron.

Esta herramienta consistía en un mango y un emisor de energía de plasma o láser. Que según s ajustaba el poder podía cortar o soldar metales como el duracero.

Varios modelos de droides tenían acoplado un cortador de fusion para ayudar a sus dueños en reparaciones emergentes, como por ejemplo el droide astromecánico R2-D2.
